Soon after Kelly Stafford, wife of Detroit Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford, announced that she had a brain tumor, Dr. Jawad Shah shed light on the subject for the general public during a TV interview.

In a “First at Four Focus” on ABC 12 News, Dr. Shah speaks in-depth about what brain tumors are, the surgical process of having them removed, the associated risks, and the recovery process.

It has been nearly one year since Kelly underwent surgery to have the benign tumor removed. Since then, she has recovered and life is essentially back to normal for her. In fact, in a March 2020 Instagram post showing the family in Disneyland, Kelly announced that they were expecting a fourth child.

All this goes to show that while a diagnosis of a brain tumor can be very frightening, patients can completely recover from the surgery and regain the quality of life they desire.
